Our 2019 Ambassador, Carla Johns has written this interesting article published in the magazine
“Reflector” by the Astronomical League (page 18). I invite you all to marvel at Carla’s adventure during
her trip through the observatories in northern Chile.
Northern Hemisphere amateur astronomers dream of experiencing the
skies in the Southern Hemisphere. The Southern Cross, Omega Centauri, Alpha Centauri,
Eta Carinae, the Jewel Box cluster – the
observing list is vast and virtually endless.
The eclipse chasers amongst us flock to South
America in droves to see the Moon block the
Sun for a precious few minutes. Chile was
especially lucky to fall in the path of totality
in 2019 and again on December 14, 2020.
